On Birthdays and Dreams
December 18, 2009

He has grown tremendously in faith and wisdom, played professional soccer, lived overseas, discovered his dreams, married way out of his league, changed the lives of youth, learned to cook, loved hard, and turned another year older. For 26, my handsome piece of man has accomplished A LOT. And I am so, so proud.

Marcus is a dreamer. And probably always will be. He is also an intense celebrator of birthdays, which I relate little to. We left everything we knew, drove forever across the country, and landed in complete uncertainty to chase our dreams. Dreams we believe began to stir long ago with the touch of God’s hand. Dreams that take a ton of work and risk. Dreams that will lead to other dreams. Dreams that have left us uncomfortable, yet utterly assured.

Marcus – This year, because I have hardly anything tangible to offer you, I will gift you with my promise. My promise that no matter how complicated or difficult life gets, you have my love and support all of the way. Thank you for pushing me, stretching me, and leading me. I hope the love you receive on your birthday spills through the pores of this year because you are such a special man. And I love you.

My favorite shot of the Mr. from our wedding (that still needs to be posted!)

I only got to talk to you two for a short time at the first CNY PUG and the Dinosaur BBQ afterwards, but your love for each other was obvious and it made me happy to see it. Happy birthday Marcus and I have no doubt that Gina will keep all of her promises!

Dear Marcus and Gina, Wonderful post and heartfelt sentiments. Beautiful, absolutely beautiful. The perfect and wonderful thing about LOVE is; is that it belongs only to the two of you. It is patient, forgiving, exciting, and an emotion that compares to none other. Treasure these days like it’s your last and tomorrow will be even better. I love you both and God continue to lead you in paths you never thought possible. Happy Birthday son !
