She’s always doing something. Cooking something. Reading something. Sharing something. Having an opinion about something. My mama. Always something.
When I was home over the summer, mom was typically working in the kitchen for an upcoming catering job. At the tipping point, with nine different entrees needing to be checked at once, I’d waltz in offering to help. By help, I mean touch. Yes. My “assistance” involved her dropping everything, and sulking in a nice, slow, hug. Of course, she wanted to snap my neck at first because of the timely tasks needing completion. But after a few rounds of “help”, I’d like to think deep down, she knew (a) I wasn’t about to help her cook, and (b) long hugs were my attempt to keep her focused. Focused on what really matters. Mothers, in general, spend so much ENERGY taking care of everyone outside of themselves. To that point, it is oh, so important to step back, in the midst of the madness, and let her know how loved she is.
I wish I could interrupt you now, with your long list of errands and chooch in the background clenching your bra, to give you a hug. You’ve never been anything less than a million dolla mama, and I’m so very thankful for you, everyday.
And in honor of your new title (which I forgot, btw):
Wish we could spend today together. I guess I’ll settle for pedicures on you when I get home ::smirk:: .Love you. XOXO
